Zhang, Shengdong received the B.E. degree in electronic Engineering from the Southeast University, China, in 1984; the Master degree in Semiconductor Devices and Microelectronics from the Southeast University, China, in 1992; and the Ph.D. degree in Solid-state Electronics and Microelectronics from Peking University, China, in 2002. He worked with the Nanjing Electron Devices Institute (NEDI) till 1999, where he worked on development of silicon pressure sensors and later a-Si TFTs, and was responsible for manufacture of the first a-Si TFT LCD TV prototype in china mainland. From 1996 to 1998, he worked with Hong Kong University of Science and Technology as a visiting scholar and got involved in the development of high-voltage SOI FETs and poly-Si TFTs. Since 2002, He has been with the Peking University, China, where he is currently a full professor with the School of Electronics Engineering and Computer Science, and the Acting Dean of School of Electronic and Computer Engineering at Shenzhen Campus. His current research interest includes thin film transistors, active matrix display, integrated circuits for displays and nano-technologies.

Prof. Zhang is currently the technical committee member of the Society for Information Display (SID), the sub-committee chair of the SID Beijing Chapter, an academic committee member of the National Research Center for Flat Panel Display Technology, and the technical committee member of the National Engineering Lab for AMOLED Technology.

He is the author of more than 250 research publications in international journals and conferences, in which about 70 papers are in Advanced Materials, Advanced Functional Materials, Applied Physics Lettersand IEEE Letters/Journal/Transactions. He is a holder of six US patents and more than 70 Chinese patents. Some of these patents have been transferred to Chinese industry for application in massive production. So far, these patents have led to more than 5 billion RMB of display panel products.
